The Friends of St Mary’s Cathedral are delighted to offer a rare opportunity to visit the bell-tower of the Cathedral for a tour and a talk by Murray-Luke Peard, outgoing Captain of the bell-tower. Participants will be able to see the ringing chamber and the fourteen bells of the central tower of the Cathedral. Murray-Luke has previously given talks to the Friends, and it is very exciting to be invited to see the inside of the bell-tower in person.
Please be aware that access to the bell-tower is by a narrow and steep spiral staircase. A minimum level of physical fitness is required to be able to participate in the tour.
The tour will be held at 6.30pm (after Mass) on Thursday 10th October 2019. Please meet inside the eastern doors (next to the Chapel of the Irish Saints), where we will be escorted into the tower. The event will be followed by wine and cheese. Tickets are $10 for members ($15 for non-members).
Special reduced-price tickets are available for Members who buy online: if you are a member and cannot see the Members’ price of $10 each, then you will need to log in. If you do not have a password, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will happily send you one. Please book in advance if you can: some tickets might be available on the evening.
