The St Patrick’s Day luncheon held this year was a great success. We were very glad to be hosted by Fr Don Richardson, the Dean of the Cathedral, in Cathedral House, and the food brought forward for the lunch was matched in its splendour only by the convivial spirit shared by the 55 members and their guests in attendance.
Bishop Richard Umbers spoke eloquently about the role of cathedrals in the life of a city as a whole, and of course about how St Mary’s Cathedral has a role to play in the life of Sydney. The Friends of the Cathedral in turn have a responsibility as quasi-ambassadors for the Cathedral!
23rd March is in fact Bishop Umbers’ birthday. Forewarned of this fact, the Committee provided cakes to celebrate the Bishop’s birthday, which we’re pleased to say he agreed to share with everyone else who was there!
With thanks to Helen Hofman for the photos.
