The best-laid plans

The novel coronavirus and the Friends of St Mary’s Cathedral

We came into 2020 full of pep and vigour, with arrangements for events for the full year. And then, of course, the world changed—at least for the moment. Inevitably, we have had to postpone our events over the coming months.

For the moment, we have postponed all events which had been scheduled up to the end of July 2020. The events which have been postponed are as follows:

It is our sincere hope that we will be able to hold these events when life returns to something more like ‘normal’, but we haven’t got any details yet. It is possible that we might have to postpone further events currently scheduled for later in the year too, but we will let you know as soon as we know any more.

Once this is all over, the Friends of St Mary’s Cathedral will return, stronger than ever, with exciting and informative events. See you then!

Refunds

If you have already purchased tickets for any of these events, we will make arrangements for you to be refunded. The refunds will be processed shortly, and it might take a few days for the funds to be returned to your payment card. Thank you for your patience.

Live streams from the Cathedral

No doubt many of you will be distressed by the closures of churches around the country. As you probably know, Mass is being celebrated daily in the Cathedral, and is being live-streamed on YouTube. You can find the live streams (and recordings from previous streams) on the Cathedral’s YouTube channel page. Also, the Cathedral’s liturgical action on Good Friday afternoon and the Mass on Easter Sunday morning will be broadcast on Channel 7. It is good that we can stay in touch with our beloved Cathedral, even remotely! For more information about the live streams (including schedules), look at the Cathedral’s website.
